Early Life

Erik Felsen was born to Josef and Irene Felsen in the city of Sudentor, South Belka on March 25th, 1969. His mother was a school teacher and was the quiet type; his father, on the other hand, was bold and daring, quite fitting for his job: he was a fighter pilot in the Belkan Air Force's 51st Air Division, 126th Tactical Fighter Squadron, better known as 'Silber'. A good friend of Dietrich Kellerman and the aforementioned pilot's wingman, Josef was as happy as he could be with his life. From an early age, Josef began to teach his son the history of Belka as well as that of the Felsen clan of knights, from which they are descended. He also instilled a deep sense of honor and loyalty in his son, which would be the pillars of Erik's very existence until Belka ceased to exist in 2017. It was also because of this that Erik recieved one of his monickers, "Lancelot" while still a boy for his reverence towards the Belkan Knights of old.

It seemed as if Josef was ready to finally settle down and take an even more active role in his family, but that all changed when the Rectan War broke out. At end of the final battle, he was wounded and grounded, but he still felt he could fly combat. This would prove to be his undoing during the Crescence Islands Incident of 1985, during which he sacrificed himself by using his own F-4E to shield his friend and squadron leader, Dietrich Kellerman. Josef's remains were found a week later and returned to Sudentor, where he was posthumously awarded the Silver Cross and buried with full honors. This shook Erik to the core; he became a very cold and serious person following this event, and he would remain as such for the rest of his life.

Kellerman Institution (1990-1994)

Upon entering the Kellerman Institution in 1990, Erik proved himself to be quite a nuisance for superior officers because of his uncanny ability to see the slightest flaws in everything. This often manifested when Erik forgot something for inspection; if the TI pointed out one mistake on Erik's uniform, Erik would point out ten or more errors on his superior's. This caught the attention of the Rectan War veteran and top ace Gunter Feiseler. The man took in Erik as his protege, and it wasn't long before Erik shot him down in a training flight.

It was also at this time that Erik met Eilene Garret, a young female pilot with a similar nature to his own. The two immediately form a strong bond and vow never to let each other to come to harm. Upon graduating in 1994, they were informed by Captain Feiseler that they were to be part of a revived squadron dating back to 1935 called the 3113th Tactical Fighter Squadron. For this and his keen attention to detail and strategy, he earned the monicker "White Dragon".

The Belkan War (1995)

The 3113th was slow to join the war at first due to logistics problem, resulting in them not recieving aircraft for quite some time. By the time their MiG-29As were delivered, the war had already been going underway for quite a while. Their first combat was during Operation Choker One over B7R. They were assigned the task of warding off Ustian reinforcements whilst Rot, Grun and Indigo dealt with the enemy. All three squadrons were soon shot down, but when Captain Feiseler attempted to have the squadron retreat, he was hit and shot down by a missile fired by Larry "Solo Wing Pixy" Foulke. The rest of the squadron retreated, but Erik stayed to fight, eventually surviving the engagement due to Cipher and Pixy running out of ammunition.

He personally felt responsible for the death of his Captain, but now had to take command of the traumatized squadron. He dealt with his pain by playing his guitar during his freetime and was writing a song throughout the war. He said that 'it just isn't there...I need inspiration'. Later on, Erik and Wywyrm had two more clashes with Galm flight, but none were shot down. From then on, Erik had a grudging respect for the seemingly invincible mercenary pilot.

During the fight with A World With No Boundries, Erik Felsen was forced to fight a former classmate from the Kellerman Institution, Derek Householder, the Captain of the Sabel Team. Equipped with brand new Su-47s, Wywyrm managed to shoot these enemies down relatively quickly. Finally, at Avalon, Erik came up against his former squadron commander in his XFA-27. After an intense dogfight, Derek was shot down, and the fighting finally came to a close, which earned Erik the Silver Cross. From watching the battle between Cipher and Pixy, Erik finally found an inspiration for his song, which he entitled "Zero".

Note: He didn't really write Zero, but this could explain why it would be heard in the credits for the documentary for the Belkan War.thumb|right|300px|"Zero" performed by Erik Felsen and Marcela Vasquez

Interwar Years and the Yellow Squadron (1996-2009)

In the years between the Belkan War and the Circum Pacific War, Erik Felsen left the Belkan Air Force for a few years, traveling the world as a musician and making quite a name for himself. He usually played by himself, but often would perform with others, including the former Sapin Ace, Marcela Vasquez, most noticeably for a documentary on the Belkan War. In 2004, he was in San Salvacion when Erusia invaded. He was forbidden from leaving by the Federal Erusian Army, but Erik's old friend, Erich Klinsmann, who flew for Erusia under the callsign Yellow 13, recognized him and took him into his protection. His flying skills recognized, Erik was drafted into the Federal Erusian Air Force and was assigned to the Yellow Squadron, callsign Yellow 17. He is known to have fought over Megalith, but he was reported to have bailed out and was sighted at a beach on the Erusian coastline not long after, suggesting that he swam all the way there after bailing out into the ocean. Given that he was forced to fight for Erusia (he was semi-willing, given he was with his friend), the ISAF pardoned him and allowed him to return to his home in Sudentor, North Osea, but he had secretly taken another person with him, who was later revealed to be Klinsmann, the infamous Yellow 13.

However, in 2006, Erik was approached by an old friend of his, Michael Heimeroth, who came to him with an intriguing offer. North Osea Grunder Industries was testing a brand new fighter known as the ADF-01A, and needed experienced pilots to test fly it. Erik accepted and joined the test squadron along with all of his former squadron and four new pilots, forming a new Wywyrm Squadron consisting of eight pilots.

Circum-Pacific War (2010)

Although technically part of the Belkan Air Force, Erik Felsen was appaled by the war that had just begun, declaring it an 'unjust perversion of everything war once was'. The Grey Men caught wind of this, unfortunetly and declared them a threat before ordering the newly reorganized Sabel Squadron to kill them. Wywyrm escaped in stolen ADF-01As, the only one of their weapons that was functioning being the TLS systems. They flew to Heierlark, where a group of partisans there smuggled them and their planes out on a cargo ship, which was soon intercepted by the Osean Kestrel fleet. This was mere days before the Wardog squadron arrived, and despite an initial misunderstanding between Erik and Blaze, the two decided to work together.

The rest of their action was limited, but one incident of note took place during Operation Arcadia at the end of 2010. Only Erik and Eva's Falkens had enough fuel to participate in the mission, and so they took off to escort Razgriz when they were attacked by Ofnir and Grabacr. Despite his aircraft being hit severely, Erik managed to ram Ofnir 1 and Grabacr 1 before bailing out.

Annea (2016)

Nothing of note took place here, except that Erik managed to shoot down a flight of four CFA-44s on the final day of the war.

The Osean Continental War (2017)

Erik Felsen, by now, lead a radical group known as the 'Reborn Knights of Belka', and took over the Belkan monarchy. Soon after, Belka launched a massive strike on Osea and the Eastern Countries with incredible sucess, with Erik personally leading the attack from the front. Other than scoring many victories, not much else is known of him.

One of the things that is known is that after his squadron was wiped out, he was believed to have fallen into insanity, and took personal command of the defense of his homeland. In a desperate attempt to stave off his nation's destruction, Erik took off in the ADF-02A Super Falken and prepped the dreaded V-X Antimatter Warhead ICBM for launch. He was attacked by many aces from many nations and was ultimately overwhelmed, resulting in his supposed death.

He had in fact survived the war and was a broken man; he went into hiding, never to be seen or heard from again by any of his former friends or family.

The Erusian Civil War (2019)

Su-47 Wywyrm

Su-47 flown by Erik Felsen

Erik Felsen, never one to stay out of a fight for long, immediately noticed what could be a repeat of what happened to Belka occuring on the Usean Continent. Vowing never to fail again, Erik joined the fight as a mercenary, flying his Su-47 he managed to steal from a Belken Air Force base when he went into hiding.

His actions were again limited, but he is known to have shot down his two former wingmen once.

The Leasath-Aurelia War (2021)

Not much is known about him from this war, but some declassified documents suggests he was Ezio Martinez, leader of the elite Draco Squadron.

A New Life (2045-2048)

Erik Felsen was now an old man, aged 76, and due to developing pancreatic cancer that quickly spread throughout his body, he was on his last legs. He had anticipated this however, and had created an AI copy of himself named Arrik Felsen (Arrik is pronounced the same as Erik), which had all of his memories. A clone body was also being grown at this time, and by the time he died, Arrik was already living, and as he appeared as he did in around 1992, nobody suspected who he was. According to official records, Arrik was Erik's grandson, but this of course wasn't true, as he didn't even have a son to begin with. He became a pilot in UPEO's SARF, flying upgraded MiG-44 Falcons as part of the newly revived Wywyrm Air Command Squadron, now an official squadron consisting of eight pilots. He became close friends with fellow SARF pilot Rena Hirose, and was believed to have been infatuated with her, which lead him to join Ouroboros. However, when he found out that Rena's feelings were for Ouroboros leader Abyssal Dision and not him, the "Reborn Relic", as he was jokingly known by Rena and a few of his squadmates, he felt betrayed, and defected from Ouroboros, later shooting down several Ouroboros aces before the Corporate War's end. The only thing he regretted was not being able to kill Dision himself, but he was distraught by Rena Hirose's death and so fled into isolation until for several years.

In 2048, Arrik met up with another who was long believed to be dead: the ex-Belkan revolutionary leader, Galaan Scharfefaust. Like his previous self, Arrik was a fervent Nationalist, but Arrik was slightly different from Erik, and was far more radical. He agreed to work with Scharfefaust as well as several others to form an organization known as the New Belkan Waldriech. Arrik would train the next generation of Belkan Air Force pilots and would recruit multiple pilots of Belkan descent from the GRDF, NADF and SARF. Upon Scharfaust's rise to power, Arrik became the Grand Marshal of the Stahlerne Luft (Steel Air), the reorganized Belkan Air Force (His role was a cross between those of Herman Goering and Adolf Galland during the real-life Second World War, but he was a more effective leader than both due to his reputation).

The Twin Dragons, "Alpha" and "Omega" (2048-)

See Project Dragonchild for more information.

In 2048, during the Osean withdrawal from Belka, the Osean military discovered an astonishing find: there was a second clone of Erik Felsen, created in case the first one faltered during growth. Since he was identical in every way to the leader of the "Stahlerne Luft", he was brought back for examination, but as soon as they opened the vacuum seal on his stasis tube, he awoke instead. After enduring a drastically accelerated rehabilitation program, the Felsen clone was turned over to the Osean Special Forces, who recognized his skill as a pilot, sniper, assassin and spy.

Eventually, Arrik Felsen got wind of Osea's discovery, and to differentiate himself from his 'brother', he took on the name "Alpha", which he often used in place of his first name. This lead to the Osean Felsen being named "Omega". The two were virutaly alike in many ways, and many wondered what would happen if the two of them met. Eventually, they did, after Omega's squadron, Saber, destroyed a Belkan bomber formation. Omega, despite the urge to attack, had no choice but to run, barely escaping by the skin of his teeth. It was then that he found out who Alpha was, and Alpha discovered just how serious of a threat his "brother" was.

The two later met again, during which Omega hit Alpha's fighter with cannonfire and forced him to retreat, saving the life of Captain Aizu Tsukihime, whom many would later believe might have been of more than just a professional interest to the young ace. However, Aizu was hit and shot down by laserfire from the ADFXC-05 Gewalt. When told to surrender, he refused, and managed to escape back to friendly territory with his wingman. Aizu was listed as Missing In Action, and Omega became Saber 1. It is at this time that some begin to refer to the squadron, in rare cases, as the "Revived Demons of Razgriz".

A short while later, The Saber Team went to escort a Neo-UN fleet centered around several carriers, battleships, and the Yuketobanian submersible aircraft carrier Scinfaxi II, an improved variant of the submarine used in 2010 from which it derived its name. Suddenly, a Belkan aerial strike force arrived and attacked the fleet, spearheaded by the elite Windhover Team. Although the Belkans were shot down, it was soon revealed as a cover-up for a different mission: to commandeer the Scinfaxi II. The Belkans fired two burst missiles from the submarine as they escaped, damaging the fleet and downing several aircraft; miraculously, no ships were sunk and casualties were minimal.

Following this, Saber Team took part in an attack on a GR facility, during which the Belkan GR Ace Keith Bryan was shot down by Omega. Later on, they recieved a close air support request from a partisan in Ustio known as "Urufu". After a heated battle and intense engagment against the ace pilots Riese and Kuroso, the team landed and discovered that Urufu was Aizu Tsukihime! Omega barely contained himself, but retained his composure. However, it was now becoming apparent to some that Omega's companionship with Aizu might be more than just a professional one...

Trivia

  • Although Erik claimed that he was only on the ground when he had to be, ironically, Felsen is Belkan (German) for "Rock".
  • Despite being Belkan, he speaks Osean with an Western Osean accent (similar to a real-life British accent), as that was the accent his teacher spoke with when he learned Osean.
  • Apparently the guitar owned by Erik Felsen survived up into 2048 and now belongs to Arrik.
  • The Katana Alpha carries around is an antique dating back to before Osea and Belka became organized nations called Rache Die Drachen, or "Dragon's Vengeance". It is made from a special steel ore that resists corrosion. Erik first used this katana to attack another Kellerman Institute cadet who attempted to rape his future wingman: Eilene Garret
  • Omega wields a different katana called Muramasa. (For this and the note directly above, see this article)
  • On his recommendation, the plans for the ADF-02A Super Falken were recovered from General Resources Limited's archives, and with a few modifications was turned into a production fighter, albeit it lost the ability to carry MWBMs as well as the shield to reduce weight, but consequently increased its top speed to Mach 3.8 when coupled with stronger engines.
  • In 2022, Albert Gennete tracked down Erik Felsen and interviewed him. From the interview, Gennete wrote Erik's biography, entitled The Legend of Wywyrm. This Biography would later be updated by Albert Gennere Jr. (his son obviously), In 2045, after he succeeded in tracking down Erik himself; he was there when Erik died, and for a time was the only one who knew of Arrik Felsen's true identity.
