The AV-8B Harrier II Plus, sometimes abbreviated as AV-8B+, is an upgraded variant of the AV-8B Harrier II. It has a few improvements over the original plane, including an FLIR (forward-looking infrared camera), an upgraded cockpit with compatibility for night vision goggles, a more powerful engine, and an advanced radar. The plane can also various Air-to-Ground weapons, such as the SPEAR-3, AGM-65 Maverick and AGM-84 Harpoon Air-to-Ground missile, it can also carry Air-to-Air weapons such as the AIM-120 AMRAAM and even energy weapon like the Pulse Laser. The plane is also very popular for many countries.
History[]
The Osean Maritime and Marine Corps needs a better VTOL aircraft, the original AV-8B are not enough, so they need a better one. Especially the threat from Belka is increasing, the Belkans are powerful and could sink an Osean aircraft carrier before they can launch all aircrafts. McDonnell Douglas and Boeing begins developing a new AV-8B with better capabilties and have VTOL capabilities. Macmillan Heavy Industries also help developing the AV-8B+ for the Emmerian Air Force and Navy. And the AV-8B Harrier II Plus was created.
The AV-8B proved its power in the Belkan War, during Operation Hell Bound, multiple Osean AV-8B+ took off from the aircraft carrier Kestrel and investigate the Glatisant fortress, the AV-8B+ had many kills despite Galm Team kills most hostiles. Later in the Circum-Pacific War, the Osean forces utilized the AV-8B+ during Operation Vanguard to support Wardog Squadron to sink the Scinfaxi and Operation Snake Pit to destroy a Yuktobanian ammo dump at Duga.
The AV-8B+ were also utilized by both Osean and Erusean forces. The aircraft was less popular due to the new F-35B Lightning II are more powerful and had almost the same costs for the AV-8B+, the F-35B also have VTOL capabilities, despite the F-35B was better, the AV-8B+ are still a popular choice for the Osean military. The Osean military deployed various AV-8B+s and F-35Bs to support Spare Squadron destroying an Erusean base in Roca Roja, and the operation was success. The Osean military also deployed many AV-8B+s and F-35Bs to support the LRSSG destroying an Erusean Navy base at Snider's Top. The Osean military also deploy the AV-8B+ during Operation Magic Spear and Operation Werewolf. The aircraft most notable battle of the aircraft is Operation Giant's Step to take Farbanti and Operation Daredevil to take down the Arsenal Bird. Osea also deployed few AV-8B+ to take down two ADF-11F Ravens.
