The Sukhoi Su-71 (Yuktobanian: Сухой Су-71; Osea reporting name: Fieger) is a twin-engine stealth multirole fighter aircraft developed by Sukhoi and Wernher and Noah Enterprises. It is one of the product of the PAK FA (Yuktobanian: ПАК ФА, short for: Перспективный Авиационный Комплекс Самолетов пятого поколения, Osean:''Prospective Aeronautical Complex of Fifth-Gen Aircraft'') programme, which was initiated in 2002 as a more modern and affordable alternative to the Mikoyan MiG-1.44. Sukhoi's internal designation for the aircraft is Su-71. The Su-71 is the second aircraft in Yuktobanian military service designed with stealth technology and is intended to be the basis for a family of stealth combat aircraft.

A multirole fighter capable of aerial combat as well as ground and maritime strike, the Su-71 incorporates stealth, super maneuverability, supercruise, integrated avionics, and substantial internal payload capacity. The aircraft is expected to succeed the Su-47 Berkut in the Yuktobanian military aviation arms. In addition to serving the Yuktobanian Air Force, the aircraft has also been marketed for export, especially Osea after the Belkan War. The first prototype aircraft flew in 2010, and after a protracted development due to various issues that emerged during trials, the first Su-71 entered service with the Yuktobanian Air Forces (YAF) in December 2014 and entered service with the OADF in May 2015. The fighter is expected to have a service life of up to 35 years or more, replacing the Sukhoi Su-27 in the YAF.

Design[]

The Su-71 is a fifth-generation multirole fighter aircraft and the first operational stealth aircraft for the YAF. In addition to stealth, the fighter emphasizes super maneuverability in all aircraft axes, capacious internal payload bays for multirole versatility, and advanced sensor systems such as active phased-array radar as well as a high degree of integration of these systems. In the Su-71's design, Sukhoi cited the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor as the baseline for a super maneuverable stealth fighter, but addressed what the bureau considered to be the limitations, such as the inability to use thrust vectoring to induce roll and yaw moments and complications for stall recovery if thrust vectoring fails.

Armaments

The Su-71 Shikra is armed with a 30 mm cannon that is loaded with 3600 rounds of high-explosive (HE) ammunition. Using Osean-made cannons that have higher rate of fire than Yuktobania's standard machine guns for aircrafts.

Features[]

Like Osean 5th Gen Aircraft, it has both stealthy and conventional configurations; the stealth configuration stores weapons in internal bays.

When it comes to Within Visual Range (WVR) dogfights, the Su-71 Shikra is far superior to most Osean aircraft in almost every aspect. Its agility is unrivalled, and can easily out-turn and outmanoeuvre Osean aircraft with ease. Having the outermost weapon stations reserved for air-to-air missiles ensures that even when outfitted for close air support, the Su-71 is still deadly in a dogfight.

Although it is slightly inferior avionics-wise, the Su-71 can make up for it by closing the distance gap between it and a Black Wasp by simply flying faster, nullifying the latter's radar advantage.

Notable Traits

The Su-71 have capable of carrying anti-radiation missiles for any given mission. This makes the Su-71 a particularly lethal SEAD aircraft, as its ARMs combined with its passive radar means that it can safely detect and engage SAM batteries at stand-off ranges without relying on other units to spot for it.

Drawbacks

The real downside to the Su-71 is its capable of carrying long-range missiles, while Osean aircrafts can carry lots of BVR missiles such as the AIM-120 AMRAAM, the AIM-260 JATM and the AIM-54 Phoenix carry by F-14 Tomcats. The Su-71's only long-range missile is the Wympel R-77 and the Wympel R-27 which are inferior to Osean BVRAAMs.
